Created at the same time during the height of the pandemic in 2020, Otolo and hospitality perks and benefits provider TIP come together in a unique partnership to provide hospitality workers with bespoke career development, as well as a year’s worth of hospitality benefits.

Otolo, the global hospitality platform who have just been awarded a grant from the European Social Fund to deliver over 4,000 mentoring and coaching courses to front-line hospitality workers in London, have come together with founders of TIP Hospitality, Martijn and Monika Mulder to further give benefits to those front-line workers who have been affected the most.

The partnership, which officially kicks off in March, will see Otolo offering funded places for Level-2 and Level-3 CPD hospitality courses for front-line workers who want to develop and retain a career within hospitality. And as a bonus for those signing up founders of TIP Hospitality have offered a year’s membership for hospitality workers to gain exclusive access to benefits and perks from favourite restaurants, bars and more.

Martijn and Monika who are already approved mentors on Otolo, have pledged over £4,000 in mentoring hours to participants signing up for the courses.

As founders Martijn and Monika Mulder share the same passion for building hospitality communities as the Otolo team, with both aiming to reward hospitality people with great benefits and perks, the partnership has marked a turning point for those who need the most support and retention within the industry.

“At TIP we are passionate about creating a culture of talent development and retention. The hospitality industry went through lots of ups and downs and now - more than ever - businesses and hospitality professionals are looking into upskilling hospitality talent. Otolo has created a strong mentorship community in a short time and aims to supercharge sustainable and inclusive career development and retention within the industry. It’s a natural fit for us to support Otolo’s hospitality courses and we wanted to create even more value for all participants. What better way to combine learning and having fun in the industry at the same time.” - Martijn Mulder, Founder of TIP Hospitality

Otolo CPD Hospitality courses include a Level 2 Hospitality Skills and Pathways for early-careers who are looking to develop a career in any function within the hospitality industry, plus Level 3 Hospitality Leadership and Professional Development for those who are aspiring or newly appointed managers. The programme has been launched to support professionals working in hotels, bars, restaurants or events to encourage retention and acquisition for those newly coming into or in the early-career phase.

“I love Monika and Martjin’s vision, they are both amazing people who want to empower the hospitality community and give back. Both of them came forward last year to pledge their time towards mentoring some of the 4,000 participants coming through our course programmes. They are genuinely heavily invested in people, which is what the industry needs most right now. The power of building communities and coming together within hospitality is more powerful than ever and if we work together, we can start solving some of the industry perceptions and problems together rather than competing and adding to the problem.” - Luce Watson, Head of Marketing at Otolo

How will the partnership work?

Sign up for an Otolo course (worth over £200), and get a year’s TIP membership (worth £49) giving you discounts and perks to partners like Sketch, EggRun, Temper, Sea Containers, 12th Knot and more. If you renew your TIP membership after a year then TIP will also donate a percentage of each membership and venue subscription to Hospitality Action to help hospitality people get back on their feet.
