We are a global online hospitality platform where professionals connect, meet and share knowledge, and we acquired a two-year £3.8M ESF programme to support the hospitality sector recovery and help tackle current staff acquisition and retention challenges.

We aim to recruit 4,000 hospitality professionals working within London to enter our six-month CPD-approved course programmes (free of charge for London workers).

Hailed for its innovative approach, the Otolo project is backed by a European Social Fund grant, private funding and mentoring pledges from experts and leaders across the industry.

The project will deliver 4,000 CPD-approved digital mentoring and coaching courses to London-based Hospitality employees and managers.

Otolo will support hospitality businesses’ retention and acquisition by providing essential career and leadership skills while encouraging global collaboration and addressing issues like the gender pay gap.

Businesses and individuals are rapidly applying for funded spots including staff from W Hotel, Heathrow Airport, Caprice Holdings, Stonegate Pubs, Marriott International, Tavolino, Sea Containers London who have recently signed up for the Otolo CPD-approved courses.

The startup is partnering with leading organisations such as TIP Hospitality to benefit front-line workers with hospitality benefits and perks.

London, March 14th, 2022 - Founded by James Lemon, the global hospitality platform Otolo helps professionals from the industry connect, learn from each other, share knowledge, attend events and now sign up for coaching and mentoring CPD courses. With many success stories already with life-long friends made during the pandemic, interviews and job opportunities shared between peers the opportunities to collaborate across the globe are endless.

The courses, which are run by industry experts and coaches, for which you would normally pay a huge fee, are free to those working in Hospitality within London. Matched through Otolo’s bespoke algorithm you can put your areas of interest for learning in, as well as your function to be paired with a mentor who has been on a similar journey previously. Rolled out over 6-months there are a limited number of places for Level 2 Career Pathways and Level 3 Early Leadership for those who want to snap them up whilst they are fully funded and backed by the government.

The fast-growing team headed up by industry professionals from British Airways, Various Eateries, IHG and others have already got mentors from some of the industry’s biggest groups and names including Hyatt, Accor, Marriott International, Tip Hospitality, Expedia, Selina, Too Good To Go, IHG and many more.

“Hospitality Skills and Career Pathways” (Level 2 CPD-approved): for hospitality starters to unlock their curiosity and various career pathways within hospitality. Key areas: customer experience, brand awareness, conflict resolution, building resilience, understanding communication across teams.

“Hospitality Leadership and Professional Development” (Level 3 CPD-approved): for aspiring leaders and managers to develop their confidence in managing different personalities and exploring their personal values. Key areas: team performance, diversity and inclusion, understanding your values and management styles as a leader, and your team’s needs.

To give back to London front-line workers who have been affected the most, Otolo has also partnered with TIP Hospitality founders, Martijn and Monika Mulder. Participants who sign up for the courses will be offered a year’s worth of hospitality perks and discounts while receiving the support they need in progressing their careers. Monika and Martijn have committed to pledging over £4,000 in equivalent mentoring hours to give back to the industry and its front-line workers.

James Lemon, Founder and CEO, says: “We are incredibly excited to have won a grant and grateful for the opportunity it gives us to help the industry recover and thrive, giving back to thousands of people. Being recognised by the government and European Social Fund helps us play a bigger role in building the future of hospitality, so we’re going to keep on innovating in the way hospitality people learn, the way employers develop their people, and the reputation of the industry as an amazing career and sector to work in. It’s going to be a really exciting 2022 building out our teams and our new technology. That and making sure we have a positive social impact, while also building a strong and sustainable business.”
